BSAC training progression

Divers from other agencies

BSAC Ocean Diver

Entry Level qualifications which typically do not include rescue training.

  • NASDS Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver

  • NAUI Scuba Diver and Advanced Scuba Diver

  • PADI Open Water Diver

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and AOWD+

  • SSI Open Water Diver

BSAC Sports Diver

Second Level qualifications which must include rescue training.
 

  • CMAS Two Star Diver

  • HSE Commercial Diver

  • SAA Club Diver

  • SSAC Third Class Diver

Equivalency

Not all the qualifications from other training agencies are as easy to match to a BSAC equivalent.

 

Matching instructor qualifications between agencies is more complicated. With safety our paramount concern, your level of experience is often more important than your dive qualification.

In all cases the final descision on anyone’s fitness to dive rests with the Branch Diving Officer. If your qualification is not shown here, please refer to the BSAC equivalent qualificatons.

BSAC Dive Leader

All ‘Third Level’ qualifications which must include dive leadership training.
 

  • NASDS Dive Supervisor

  • NAUI Divemaster

  • PADI Divemaster

  • SAA Dive Leader

  • SSAC Second Class Diver/Master Diver

  • SSI Dive Control Specialist

BSAC Advanced Diver

Any higher level of qualification.
 

  • CMAS Three Star Diver

  • SAA Dive Supervisor
